Balloon boy . Was it staged?

Yesterday's big media hype was the incident in Denver Colorado where a home made hot air balloon took off from a family home and a 6 yrs old boy "may be " on board.
As the balloon sailed across the counties, many cops, ambulances, paramedics and fire trucks chased the thing.
Clearly in the video you can see there was no basket attached to the thing.. the balloon appeared to be like a UFO shape and had no visual reference .. no window or door.
So how can someone be onboard this thing if there is no door or window.. clearly it was just a balloon.
But they chased it.. for 2 solid hours. Finally reaching the ground, they released the helium inside and looked around for any opening.

No one there.

So where did this 6 yr old boy who was supposed to be inside, go?
No one knew. Until shortly after it was reported the boy was found... safe and sound at home. He hid from his father after he got yelled at in the garage attic.

No one bothered to look for him in the house? They all though he was in the balloon , even though there was no basket attached to it?
Could the father not see that on TV and call and say ..hey wait a minute.. there is no basket on the balloon.. its empty!

No. Instead he watched the whole thing unfold on TV and said nothing.

National Guard were called in to assist. Denver International Airport was closed for the duration causing flight delays.

Emergency crews drove around chasing an empty balloon.

Later on, the kid says on LIVE TV that they did it for a show. What show?

Apparently daddy likes to be on TV as a storm chaser and also appeared on WIFE SWAP ( stupid show anyway ).

So was this all a big stunt to get attention.

I think so.

Think about it for just a minute. You build a balloon and it floats off the ground. You watch on TV and say nothing.
Why would you not say anything? Because... it's great TV !

For two hours , media covered the event live. Not a single person called in to say.. where is the basket? How can this kid see outside?

Not a single person. Now personally, I know nothing of building these things. But what I did realize when watching it that there was no window.. no door.

So how come I ( and probably others ) could see that but no one else did.

This was nothing but a publicity stunt. The kid himself even said.. " We did it for the show" and now the dad is back peddling like crazy saying that it's ludicrous to think that.

Really? Then how come you never called the authorities and told them they were chasing an empty balloon? How come you did not search your house thoroughly when you realized your son was missing? You ASSUMED he was on board..

Again.. daddy loves publicity. He thinks its great to be on TV and getting attention. I think this was one of those cases where he set it up and went with it.

Talk about wasting tax payers money ! It literally costs tens of thousands of dollars to have all these people chasing / finding a "lost" kid. Wasting many hours when they could have been doing something else that was more urgent.

I don't care. But one look at this balloon and you can see no basket:

NO BASKET .

Was it all a hoax? A ploy to gain attention.

I think so.
