A Lengendary SideKick and An Angel...

On Tuesday June 23 Ed McMahon died . Ed of course was Johnny Carson's longtime sidekick on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. Ed would be considered the King of Sidekicks and held that for over 30 years on that show. "Hhhhhhhheeerrrreeee's Johnny!" , Ed would announce as Johnny walked out from behind the curtains. A catchphrase that would be repeated by Jack Nicholson in the movie "The Shining".
Ed was also starring in his own show , STAR SEARCH, which featured young ,unsigned , talent that would become the launching points of their careers ( Sawyer Brown, Allanis Morrisette, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears etc etc ). Ed also hosted a show with Dick Clark called Bloopers and Practical Jokes showcasing bloopers from TV shows and movies as well as performing practical jokes on celebrities, as well being the spokesman for Publisher's Clearing House Lottery. But it was all those years beside Johnny Carson that made Ed famous. His laughter ( albeit at times was off... due to the alcohol consumption during taping ) was loud and noticeable.
In the last few years, Ed would become the "Unofficial " spokesman for those who were facing the mortgage crisis.
Ed's motive was to educate people that although they live in Burbank / Hollywood, they too face the dangers of losing their homes due to the mortgage crisis. Ed's $4 million home would be on the chopping block. It was Donald Trump who secured ownership and ensured Ed would have a home to live in.
One of the funniest moments on The Tonight Show was when Johnny mentioned " When my time comes..", and although Ed just sat there, it was a huge laugh when Johnny stated "When I go, you go. Did you not read that part in your contract?". Johnny Carson died on Jan 23, 2005.

Good Night Ed... thanks for all those years of bringing a smile to people's faces.

And some more sad news:

Farrah Fawcett, 62 has died this morning from cancer. Farrah's popularity rose when she starred with two other lovely ladies in "Charlie's Angels" which ran from 1976-1981. Farrah left the show to pursue a movie career. But Farrah would be forever remembered in her famous poster which sold over 12 million copies:

I am sure every male my age at one point had this poster on their wall. This poster is one of the most famous ones in the world
Farrah's last Tv appearance was on May 15,2009 on NBC. Farrah's Story, an intimate two-hour documentary  was shot and produced by her friend Alana Hamilton. Although footage was primarlily for Farrah to keep tabs on her progress, it was important for her to tell viewers of what she was going through.
It drew over 6 million viewers.
Farrah Fawcett. R.I.P Angel.
