Just doing some blog-hopping before getting my supper on the go. Hope you've been having a nice weekend.
2008 is drawing to a close and it's been quite the year. I look forward to sharing many more blogs with you all in the coming year. This past year, I went through a lot of changes ( Thanks to my nephew's wife, Lisa, who was the key player ) while in L.A. Short hair, no moustache ( after 24 years ), A tattoo that I never took a picture of to show it, I quit smoking after almost 23 years.. and I still am going through other changes as well. It's kinda fun to change things up.. it's also scary. I think the reason why we hesitate on change is the large un-certainty that comes with it. But the reward it offers speaks for itself.
I look forward to seeing what 2009 has in store for all of us. I truly wish you and your family all the best 2009 has to offer. And thank you..thank you for reading my blog. Please continue to do so..
2008 was an interesting year in many different locations around the world as well. Barack Obama became the first elected black President of the U.S beating John McCain, the maverick Republican. While in Canada, we elected a Prime Minister only to have a revolt against him a few months later!! (We elect a guy and the opposition parties are now yelling that the elected PM is no good! Too bad and suck it up!).
The Grand Prix International Race withdrew from Canada after almost 30 years.. The city, the F1 Organization and other organizers could not reach an agreement on royalty rights and commissions. F1 boss wanted $75 million over 5 years plus other concessions which was way too much for the Canadian shareholders to pay out ..and so a MAJOR International event is gone.
Rosie O'Donnell tried to make a come back to TV after leaving THE VIEW. Her one hour "Rosie Live" was the biggest waste of one hour that no one will ever get back!
Jay Leno will leave The Tonight Show sometime in June but will be hosting his own show on NBC PRIMETIME. So he will be with NBC for awhile to come!
NBC cancelling their number 1 show LAS VEGAS was the dumbest move they could have done.. leaving the series at a cliff hanger moment!
Nancy Grace still talks about Caylee Anthony (" WHere is Caylee?".And let's tell the world ALL the evidence so when it comes to court, the mom will walk away because NANCY spilled it all out on TV ). So that won't change at all for 2009.
This year we also saw gas prices soar through the roof as a barrel went way above $100.. a liter was $1.40 in some cases and in the US, a gallon reached over $5.
Kayne West is still an egotesticle jerk!
Gene Simmons must really love Edmonton.. why else would he be here 3-4 times in as many months.. other than the money part - Grand Marshall of the Edmonton Grand Prix *( this is not the same one as I mentioned earlier..this is a different Grand Priz race ). He was here for some motivational speech to young businesses. And for an autograph signing at FUTURE SHOP !
O.J got a bum wrap ( not literally ) by being sentenced to 19 to 33 years for armed robbery . . he was sentenced as a murderer and NOT a robbery suspect. No one gets that long of a sentence unless the victim was killed or the event was really violent!
Al Gore really really needs to hand in his Nobel Prize for his global warming... there isnt any! Everything is cooling down. Weird weather. Vegas gets snow.Vancouver gets dumped 2 feet or more...
We lost many talented people throughout the year. From amazing singers to comedians..
George Carlin, Harvey Koreman, Bernie Mac, Bo Diddley, Bettie Paige ( pin-up girl who was the inspiration to Bette Boop ), Charleton Heston, Eartha Kitt - Catwoman in the Batman series in the 1960's , Heath Ledger, Jeff Healey, Paul Newman, Richard Wright.. May they all rest in peace and
