Vegas on New Year's Eve...PARTTTYYY !

Planning on going to celebrate New Year's eve in Las Vegas? At this time of year, if you haven't booked it yet, you will be paying an average of $200 a night, depending on the hotel. Some will go as high as $600 for just New Year's Eve..if you book early it won't be so high ! I have not been there for this but I have heard it is amazing experience. Over 300,000 people piling out onto the street can not be wrong!

If you are going and it's booked ( or you're thinking of going next year ), here are some great tips:

The main Strip closes to all vehicles starting at the center, near The Mirage and Harrah's and goes in phases until all 4 miles of the road is closed. They generally start this at around 6pm so by 10pm, everything is shut to traffic. The majority of the crowd linger at the center and spread out thinner as you go down the street. It is very congested around The Mirage to a point you can not move through. The best spot is generally near the ends ( MGM and Stratosphere).

STAY ON THE STRIP for the best party. Downtown Freemont Street have bands and other festivities  ( all year round, mostly ) so you can always go there some other time. The Strip has the best atmosphere that night!

PARTY ,PARTY ,PARTY ! The Strip is the place to be. Booze is openly consumed on the Strip , however it is recommended to use plastic cups or sports containers. Cans and Bottles are not allowed. PERIOD ! If you want something other than beer, liqour stores along the Strip are your best bet for the price.. but you may have to wait awhile to get in. Most places will sell you a 64ounce plastic container of margarita for about $15. 64 OUNCES ! WOW !

SECURITY/POLICE are every where. Don't worry about them. They want to see you have a good time and are not there for any other reason. You act stupid, they care. Other than that.. they are there to make sure you have fun! If they aren't too busy, thank them for doing a good job and being there. Most of them will even pose for a photo with you... do NOT flash ( lift up the shirt ) them..

Speaking of flashing :The police are under order to cite women who flash. However, this is done when a women up on someone's shoulders practically starts a riot trying to tease the crowds. Otherwise, it isn't a top police priority..

BATHROOMS: Port A Potties are set up on the Strip. Do not think you can use a hotel bathroom. Most if not all the hotels on the Strip will not let you in, unless you are a registered guest.. and even if you are, the line ups will be long. EASE UP on the beer!

WEATHER: Mostly nice during the day when the sun is out . But once the sun is down, it gets quite cool. Bring a jacket. Desert cold can be chilly.

EAT DINNER EARLY: If you eat early enough, it gives plenty of time to enjoy the evening. If you drink a lot, you may want to eat something every once in awhile just to keep things settled.

Have fun . After all that is what Vegas is all about. Just remember one thing. If you are checking out on Jan 1, you have to be out of the hotel by noon and in some hotels even earlier than that. So if you are a party hound, stay the extra day and recover. Go to the SportsBar and watch football.

One day I hope to go to Vegas for New Year's Eve ,just to experience it. They say it is an amazing time and everyone has fun! Well I always have fun in Vegas so this may be the topper!
