Cronkite, landing on the moon and other bits

Legendary news anchor Walter Cronkite passed away yesterday at the age of 92. Walter of course was the anchor for CBS  Nightly News and always ended the newscast with the phrase "And that's the way it was on ( Says date.. with the exception of when the Iranian hostage Crisis was happening, Beginning with January 16, 1980, Day 50 of the Iran hostage crisis, Cronkite added the length of the hostages' captivity to the show's closing to remind the audience of the unresolved situation, ending only on Day 444, January 20, 1981.

Walter Cronkite was often called the "most trusted news anchor in America " and for many years until his retirement , he held that honor ! He was famous for his coverage of the Apollo Missions and also was the first anchor to break the news of President Kennedy's assassination and death.

God bless ya, Walter. RIP !

Many people have asked me over the years when is the best time to go to Vegas? I usually answer with "All depends". If you like extreme ( and I mean...EXTREME ) heat, now is the best time. Day time temperatures are in the high 30's ,low 40's ( Celcius) during the day.. winters are comfortable during the day but very cold ( yes.. I said very cold ) at night.

OK.. so where is the best deal ? Shop around. Some times I find great deals on AIRCANADAVACATIONS.com or WestJet.com . All depends... but if you see a deal ( and it sounds like a reasonable price ) ...BOOK IT ! Prices change quickly especially when there are big events going on. I just bought a deal for the MGM Hotel for September where I just paid for the flight ( hotel and show tickets were nothing ). The total price was $550 taxes in. Return airfare and 4 nights and tickets to a Cirque Du Soleil show.. Not bad eh?

The thing is... LOOK FOR THE DEALS !! Sometimes you will see one site advertising $400 plus taxes equaling about $550... another site will have the same deal for $350 but $200 in taxes ! Same totals but the cheaper deal sometimes seems like the better deal.

i can not stress enough to shop around. MGM usually have good deals, LUXOR has good deals as welll as STRATOSPERE ( the only thing about them is their location.. they are about 3 miles North of all the major hotels along the Strip so if you stay there, remember that. It's a lonnnngggg walk.

I found out last night that one of my neighbours, Evelyn , who lived in the corner suite passed away earlier this week. She was such a nice lady who take a few minutes and talk to anyone on our floor. I had no idea she had passed away until last night when I came home from work.

Anyway.. I did not know her all that well but God bless ya, Evelyn !

BEJEWELED BLITZ is an addicting game. I play it a lot on FACEBOOK. When the game first started, I was pretty good at it... or so I thought when all my friends started playing it and now they are beating my ass at it. I get too competitive with it. The first thing in the morning , I get my coffee , check emails, and then hit the game for awhile and see if I can beat anyone at it. Then I sunk down to the bottom 5. I hate that!

The funny thing is I never realized how competitve my sister and I have become in playing this frustrating game. Just when I think I have a lead on it, she plays it and whoops my ass... so then I get playing and I suddenly get a message to not play the game sooo much. Well, I can not help it. I have to beat my sister at it... I don't care about the others really.. so long as I beat her !

Is this enough to read , Elizabeth or should I type more stuff? OK... I will .

On July 20, 1969 The U.S were the first to land on the moon. On Monday it will mark the 40th Anniversary of this historical event. Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong took those steps on the surface of the moon viewed by about 600 million viewers. First to come out of the capsule was Neil. As he took that last step onto the surface , Neil clicked his mike and uttered the most famous quote of all time : "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

Many people ( stupid ones who have these incredibly dumb theories ) believe that the landing on the moon was actually staged as in the movie "The Right Stuff" where the astronauts were brought into a sound stage studio and filmed the scenes under the pretense they were actually there. Many people doubted the technology as how could the camera be rolling when Neil had not stepped on the moon yet. The answer was pretty simple... a remote camera was set up on an retractable arm so all they had to do was flip the switch and the camera would extend out and start broadcasting.

I hate conspiracy theories when there is solid proof contradicting their claim. Many people are still thoroughly convinced the 9/11 attacks were staged by the Bush Administration. Now let's think about that for a second. First off, if that was ever true, every one of those involved would be hung to dry. Why would the government do something that would kill 3,000 of its own people? To go to war with some country? The US would actually risk doing something that extreme on their own territory to go to war with some country? BULLSHIT ! They have never done something like that in history so why would they do something that drastic now? Give me a break.
