That was the total cost for the Michael Jackson funeral and memorial. Now guess who has to pay for the most of it? The taxpayers of Los Angeles! Here is a wealthy family with more money than they admit and yet... yet the hard working blue collar man has to pay for that spectacle! What an outrage! From what I have read, the city of Los Angeles has no money, is operating on a deficit of a few million and they have to pay for the extra policing and security for the Jackson Family Spectacle.
Now I sound bitter it's because I am. Although I do not live in L.A , this is something taxpayers should not contribute one dime.. unless they want to. Why should any one pay for this other than the Jackson Family? Michael did not live on taxpayers money..so why should they pay for it? He was not a civil servant, a governor nor any political figure.
Another thing I have read is that they sold tickets ( $25 ) for the memorial at the Staples Center ( who made a ton of money charging rent to the media for using their risers for higher shots...something like $50,000 ). WoW ! Now it's a concert. Did they sell T-shirts? You bet! Now it is a concert, with a 24K casket in the front stage!
17,000 people attended and if you want a souvenir program book , go to EBAY and check out how much these " diehard" fans are asking for ! UP TO $10,000 ! GReedy!! And they have the balls to say they are fans! HA !
Although I did not see any of the memorial, I did see highlights of it.. and it was touching that Paris Jackson cried as she tried to say a few words.
But it was a show! That's what it was. Plain and simple. Although the family did have a private service, it was only appropriate to have something for the fans.. but to make a spectacle of it was a bit extreme. They stood on stage , talked about how great he was ( they never ever say anything bad about anyone at funerals... wonder why ? ), etc etc.. and then the family expects the city to pay for this.
So now the city of L.A have set up a donations section on their website for any one who cares to donate some $$$.
AEG says they won't pay for any of it because they already paid $1 million for the LAKERS NBA CHAMPIONSHIP parade.. huh?? What the ____ does that have to do with it?
The Jackson family stood on stage and praised Michael. They loved him, they adored him. "Here's the bill ! ""I am not paying that!! "
Now the big question is. WAS IT MURDER? LA County aren't saying. They have not ruled it out either. They are waiting for the toxicology reports to come back! But here is what has been said. The DEA are now involved and about 5 doctors and medical staff are under investigation for the drugs found in the home. PROPOFOL being one of them. This is a drug not meant for home use... strictly hospital!
Wait and see... in the mean time I will try not to "exploit" this issue..... yeah right!
