A new addition to the family

My nephew and his wife are now proud parents. Alyssa Danielle  was born yesterday at 8am. She weighed in at 8lbs, 10 ounces ( I made that sound like she was a boxer ). And here are a few photos of her:

That's my folks... great grandparents ! And I mean that both ways.

Anyway. I am very excited to see her in the coming days.

Now as most of you know, I do not have children... maybe that's a good thing.. who knows! All I do know is that when you do have a baby, your life changes a lot ! The crying, the waking up every two hours or so, the constant attention needed, the feeding and nuturing ..and that's just fromt he husband!! LOL.
I also know that on the boxes of pampers, when it says 12-18 lbs, I figured that's all it can pretty well hold. Any more than that... you got a mess !

It must be somewhat shocking when a bay is born. First off, they are nice and comfy in the womb.. a womb with a view. Then they come out, it's a bit colder and then WHAM ! Some stranger / alien swats one on the bum. Then they get all cleaned up and ahhhh a nice warm blanket.. that's better!
Then all these white flashes going off ( they probably wish that would stop so they can sleep... I mean how would you like it ) as parents and grandparents, uncles, aunts are all taking photos.

But being a baby is rewarding. You start crying and people come and pick you up and comfort you. You stain yourself, you cry, they come along and clean you up. You cry again, you get fed. People stop to look at you all bundled up and make all these funny faces.
Try any of that as an adult... it won't work. I tried it already!
You get all wrapped up in warm blankets and get carried around. It's pretty peaceful.
The world is theirs to explore. Every day there is something new for them to see or hear. They develop so much in a year. They also go through the most transformations within the first year.

I am always amazed when I see new photos of my godson, or great nieces and see the transformations. From a small little baby into a toddler.

Ok.. I am getting all mushy...

6 more days and Jeff Dunham ( www.jeffdunham.com ) will be in town performing at Rexall Place. I am looking forward to seeing this show. He is an amazing ventriloquist. I am also waiting patiently to see if I can get a backstage pass to meet Jeff. I would really be thrilled to meet him.

One last thing. I applied with CATSA to go to Vancouver to assist in Passenger Screening during the 2010 Winter games. It is a 60 day assignment on Vancouver Island and it would be an experience of a lifetime . Once I know, I will post it here.

Anyway.. have a great day!
