Now this I found very interesting. I had a friend , a magician as well, call me on Friday and asked if I wanted to see a really unique magic act. Of course, me being a huge magic buff said ABSO FRIGGIN LUTELY !
Anyway I pick him up and he tells me it's in a strip club.....SLAM ON THE BRAKES! ! SAY WHAT !!
So I thought.,. OK. Let's check this out. I mean how bad can it be!
AMAZING ! This girl puts on a very interesting act. Her magic is unbelievable..and if you think it goes up the sleeve... once you see this girl, you know that won't be true.
Her name is Suzie Malone and she is the only BURLESQUE MAGIC ACT in the world. I'd say it was titillating is a bit of a pun! But her act is simple the most unique magic act I have ever seen.
Anyway she does this very unique illusion where she makes her entire upper body disappear.. which I have never seen before. She also does this parasol production , a HOUDINI escape , and other great effects.
What was really neat was she uses a very small amount of stage space and for the most part, people can see from all angles.
A bit after her last segment, she picked our brains on an illusion she wants to do and bring on the road. We basically taught her how some illusions work and how the best way to perform them.
She was saying she has a show to perform at in Las Vegas on August 24 .. so I am sure she is going to pick our brains and ask for advice... no problem there!
So .... what else been going on?
Lot's of coverage of the sudden death of Michael Jackson. Apparently the " Gloved One" has been taking a lot of prescription drugs. .. same as Anna Nicole Smith, Elvis Presley ( albeit I hate it when they compare the King...to Michael , self proclaimed King of Pop ). Anyway rumors are swirling that he was a heavy drug user and may have been ( speculation here ) overdosed by his doctor.
In a way the world has pretty much forgotten about Farrah Fawcett who was a major sex symbol for guys growing up in the late 70's. Lots of focus on M.J. Mind you, with Farrah it was expected and everyone knew her time would soon be over.. but Michael's was far more unexpected so it was a major blow to the music industry.
With 3 major celebrities passing on in less than a week... shit.. 2 days!! It was a surreal week.. that's for sure.
I know this blog is going to be short. I have one more day then I am off for the rest of the week so I hope to be able to blog some more things for ya...
