A few months ago, Ticketmaster got into BIG trouble when tickets for Bruce Springsteen went on sale. Apparently Ticketmaster moved tickets over to their sister website TICKETSNOW.COM ( a 3rd party ticket sales site ) where they were selling them at higher costs. This was a huge uproar as tickets were now being sold at ridiculous rates. Instead of $100 , fans were re-routed to the other site and were subject to tickets in the hundreds, even thousands. When Springsteen heard this , he was not only livid but also unforgiving as he went on a tear with them. Ticketmaster apologized and stated they would not do that again. But apparently this may have happened again for AC/DC.
Their tickets went on sale a few days ago and as soon as they became available , many people were booted off the site and within seconds, the show was sold out ( 60,000 plus )...which is very unlikely ! Yes they would sell out the show no problem there... but not in seconds. One friend of mine was actually in the middle of the transaction when she got the boot out and could not get back in and yet she was in the middle of buying them ! ( It was like someone cut in front of you in the line and bought the tickets instead. ). Did Ticketmaster pull the stunt again? Who knows? All I know is many people are livid that these tickets were all gone faster than you can blink and yet appeared on other sites within seconds.
I do know that the Regina show went on sale the same time as Edmonton's and they too were left in the dust , so to speak . The show was "sold out" at Ticketmaster.com but was available for purchase at TICKETSNOW.COM, EBAY , CRAIGLIST etc , at much higher prices. Even though Ticketmaster denied they moved tickets there, they did state they do get paid a fee when a ticket is sold ! So did they lie to us and ensure those selling tickets there are from scalpers? Or are the scalpers really Ticketmaster with the hopes of making more money?
I do understand that not everyone can go to the show .. that is pretty much a given. I know scalping tickets has been around for a long time and is illegal ( unless you know the loop hole ). But Ticketmaster seems to be pushing it. They also have other ridicluous rules ( ex: group tickets. All persons with group tickets must enter at the same time . So if I have 7 tickets but one person did not show up, can we still enter..? How would the ticket takers know I am with a group anyway.. it's not written on the ticket. )
Now the other problem with Ticketmaster is this ..and maybe someone can explain it. When tickets are purchased ( if you are lucky enough ) , you are given options:
1. Mail. They will mail the tickets to you.... free of charge.
2. Call Box - They can hold the tickets for you to pick them up at any Box Office free of charge.
3.* Or you can print the tickets on your computer / printer for a charge of $2.50 per ticket. So if you buy 4 tickets , you owe ticketmaster another $10 for the priveledge of printing them at home!
Ticketmaster has the audacity to charge fees that are unreasonable ( I bought a ticket for $39.95 and paid close to $55 by the time I was done ). I do not understand why people have to pay for the luxury of printing the ticket at home... should it not be free like the rest of them?
* If you happen to buy tickets from a scalper, make sure the ticket is not a home printed ticket... as you can print more than one sheet . I am sure scalpers print several in the hopes of selling all of them !
