Just doing some blog-hopping before getting my supper on the go. Hope you've been having a nice weekend.
Check this photo out. It was taken at the Vallejo ( California ) Zoo. Apparently handlers take the tiger cubs for walks every morning for some exercise:

Akaasha is a 6 month old siberian tiger. Isn't he just gorgeous!! I love these animals.. they are incredible as well as majestic.
And this little fellow is Java.. a new cub born on November 19 at the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden at the Mirage;

And one last photo also from the Siegfried and Roy Gardens. Check out these little guys who took up residence at the Gardens on June 13. That makes the total collection of these cats somewhere around 45 or so.. :

Ok..so now you are wondering..what is the point of this?
Here is the point:
It seems our "good friends" at PETA decided to show up at the Siegfried and Roy Gala to protest on how they treat their animals. Because they subject them to " extreme cruelty and exploitation"... cruelty? Hmm they have something like 45 tigers ( seems a bit out numbered ). There is nothing on the PETA website ( I almost fell out of my chair when I noticed they have a section called THE PETA FILES .. say that 5 times fast ).
Anyway.. "the good folks" at PETA of course have to go spouting their pretty mouths off when they have not a single clue what they are even talking about ( bear in mind that not even 1% of their budget goes to animal welfare )! They have the nerve to "berate and attack" two guys who have dedicated their lives to awareness these animals are decreasing by the hundreds.. and they are doing something about it. But the "good folks" at PETA do not see that! They honestly believe these animals are better off released into their natural habitat ( won't survive 24 hrs on their own ).
"Siegfried and Roy have made a fortune, and they owe it all to their exploitation of these tigers," PETA's Debbie Leahy ..( Further from the truth. Yes they made a ton of money ( which they would have any way..regardless ). They certainly did not exploit these animals. They have done more for conservation and public awareness of how endangered these animals are...).the animals deserve retirement ( what does she think these animals have been doing for the past 5 years?? )...where they can live out their lives in peace and never be beaten, mistreated or caged again." S&R nor their handlers have EVER beaten or mistreated any animal ! Simply not true !! Matter of fact, these cats have had a better life than ANY cat ( domestic or wild ).
Siegfried and Roy, the Masters Of The Impossible will be featured tonight on ABC 20/20. From the highs and lows.. the incident in October 2003 to the final performance last week at the Bellagio Hotel..who knows! They may also feature some of the tigers... this is a show not to miss!
After nearly 5,800 shows and over 35 years on the Strip Siegfried Fishbacher sums it all up ""I think this is the perfect thing to say a nice au revoir, auf Wiedersehen. "You know we did 45 years, we performed live onstage in Las Vegas and all over the world and now it's time to take time and relax a little bit and enjoy life."
He said they have no plans to perform again, and this was their goodbye.
