Barack Obama. The President made history by being the first PRESIDING President to make an appearance on the show on Thursday night. The only other guest on the show was Garth Brooks ( thought he retired! ).

At one point , Barack made a comment about his bowling skills.. he bowled a 39 during a campaign stop and has been practising in the bowling alley in The White House ( bet you did not know the White House has a bowling alley ,huh ). Anyway he said he bowled a 129 ( still not a great score ) and blurted out  "It's like--it was like Special Olympics, or something,".. with a smile on his face..

Ok. Is that offensive? To refer your lack of skill as being "special olympics". PLEASE !! SPARE ME ! When is this being overly sensitive going to stop?

Although Barack made a phone call to the Special Olympics folks to apologize right after the taping, the Organization would like Barack to HIRE some one from their club to work at the White House.. so Barack can learn ..about sensitivity. Oh brother!

Is it me? Am I too old for this crap? Or have we all lost our marbles? I can not say Orientals when I mean Asians , I have to say African American when I refer to black people, I can not make comments about being SPECIAL OLYMPIC qualifier when I mess something up, I can not make any gestures as well. THIS IS RIDICULOUS !

I know I blogged about this before and I honestly think that we as a society are just way to cautious, overly sensitive to everything and need to wake up a bit and realize we are doing more harm than good.

To refer someone who is AFRICAN AMERICAN, is demeaning. They are not from Africa. They majority of then never even been to Africa. It's like I am not from Europe. I was born here in Canada. I am a Canadian with a Dutch heritage. That's it. That's all. I am not DUTCH CANADIAN. If I was, I would have 2 passports .One from Holland, the other from Canada.

Same thing with Asians and Orientals. We can not refer to them as Oriental anymore. Why? What is so demeaning about that word? Nothing. It's the Orient Express. It's not the Asian Express! But we can't say Oriental anymore. No sir. It's Asian, thank you very much! When did Oriental become a bad word?

I am getting tired of hearing about bad words. Bad language. BULLSHIT ! There is no such thing as a bad word. A word is based on context. If I use a word in a demeaning way, then yes, it may be offensive. Now I use the same word but in a general setting. The word is still the same. Context. Ex: The boy was retarded for most of his life. Nice, clean way of saying it. Now the other way: "What are you? RETARDED?" . Same word but the context of that word has changed. One is demeaning. The other is not.
