Just doing some blog-hopping before getting my supper on the go. Hope you've been having a nice weekend.
Simply Amazing. That is the only way to describe the terrible US Airways crash in New York yesterday. No one died , a few minor injuries and one very quick rescue effort.
US Airways just took off from LAGUARDIA Airport when it struck a massive flock of geese ( Canadian Geese of course ) causing both engines to fail. About 5 minutes later, the plane ,piloted by Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger , glided* down into the Hudson River ( either that or Newark Airport in Jersey..and no one wanted to go to Jersey...LOL ). The passengers all quickly exited the plane and stood on the wings until rescuers arrived.
Quite the sight to see.
What made me laugh was AFTER they established it was a bird strike, the F.A.A , F.B.I and T.S.A were quick to announce it was NOT a terrorist attack. How do they know? Maybe these were the meanest Canadian Geese in the flock who entered into the U.S illegally!!
I hope this is not Pres. Bush's last action.. declaring war on Canadian Geese!
Kudos to the Captain and his crew for doing an excellent job in keeping cool and evacuating everyone as quickly as they could. News reports indicate the Capt walked up and down the aisles twice to ensure no one was still on board. The plane sank soon afterwards.
Pretty amazing pilots when things like this happen. The JetBlue Pilots who landed in LAX a few years ago with a badly damaged front landing gear after taking off from Burbank. And now this fellow landing a plane on water..as gently as possible as well.. remarkable feat!
Ok...last topic here... BOY GEORGE of the yuppy soft lame rock group CULTURE CLUB has been sentenced to 15 months in jail..."Do you really want to hurt me?" is one song he may not want to sing to his cell mate..
As I wrote the other night..this is the final weekend for George Bush in the White House.. his 8 year term is at an end..now the U.S has someone else to deal with " those terrorisers"..
* these planes are not meant to glide...
